Digital Sovereignty

Digital Sovereignty is just coming to be something I am starting to pay attention to. I have taken enough DTC class now that I think about where my data goes and who has what. Before I didn’t have a clue and didn’t know what companies were taking my information. You just sign up for a website and press accept because you don’t know any better. Although you can’t get around not accepting the terms and conditions which usually discuss the use of your data. But now I at least think about it and try to decline areas that track or use my data if I can. I have ad blockers, VPNs, different plugins, and just a lot of random stuff to try and help protect my data as much as I can.

This article was very interesting because I didn’t know the laws and rules that are used in the EU and their protection to their users. I think that is important and aids in the protection of a person's digital footprint. The thing they talk about is how they try to keep all the data from one site only in serves in the EU but I doubt this happens. They might be able to track and help more but I doubt it can help completely. I liked this article because it just talked about another resource that can help people in a way. Another thing is the activism that is being pushed from Data Sovereignty. I think this is an idea that can be beneficial and harmful at the same time for the reason that government/corps would have more access to all of the data at any time. This can be harmful to people like activist themselves that hideaway to try and produce information against these governments/corps. As well as good for people that have data security problems in other countries and could get help from somewhere else.
