I think the reading for this week was very informative about what information is about. It provided a variety of examples that related to the topic of Digital Sovereignty and how it relates the question if "Does Information Really Want to Be Free?”. I think there will be some more really good examples in class that is talked about by groups and that will be very beneficial. I think a part of the reading that was very important and caught my eye was the following.
"Apparently, at the first Hacker Conference in 1984, Stewart Brand suggested that: On the one hand information wants to be expensive, because it’s so valuable. The right information in the right place just changes your life. On the other hand, information wants to be free, because the cost of getting it out is getting lower and lower all the time. So you have these two fightings against each other. (Brand, 1984)"
I just believe this is so true because nowadays information can be so important and valuable. This then makes it more expensive and used. The issue is that information can be released and free so easy now it can be released more and at a lower cost. I believe there are so many examples out there that relate to this. A few years ago you could find some very exclusive information and it would be very pricey to get your hands on and not easy to get rid of. In today's technology, information can be released in seconds with easy.
