In the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art I saw a lot of different art collections that were amazing. From portraits to video to a statue of a mother wolf. I think the collections in this Museum were very interesting and all held different meaning all throughout.
The collection I liked the most was the Selfish collection by Doug Gast, Joe Hedges, and Io Palmer. It was really interesting for what the meaning was behind this collection. It made you think of self image and what happens behind a digital screen. The use of an image at the top of the page is from the collection and it uses a selfie. The hardware in font of it makes it seem like it is part of a phone with the glass and other screens.
My favorite piece came from the artist Jim Dine. It is a picture of a hand with a heart in the palm of it. From this piece I feel pain but handwork at the same time but the heart in the middle makes all of that feel warming though. This piece reminds me of a persons hand that is beat up and they have put a lot of work into something. Under all that tough skin there is a love for something as well.
A fact about Jim Dine was Dine was the subject of an Oscar-nominated short documentary film co-produced by his wife, Nancy, in 1995.
